Palmetto Scoopers Response to COVID-19

Our Covid-19 procedures : We check all our team member’s temperatures before starting all routes and require them to sanitize their trucks after each route daily and wear masks during meeting any clients.

Local authorities have been issuing stay-at-home and safer-at-home orders in South Carolina, and Palmetto Scoopers, Inc. is complying with these orders.

A commonality between many of these orders is an exemption for essential or critical businesses. Palmetto Scoopers is one of those businesses considered essential, because of the sanitation function we perform. You can expect Palmetto Scoopers to continue servicing your yard, property and community. We will reach out to you if this changes, based on any possible public health order in your area.

Our technicians will be provided with a letter outlining how Palmetto Scoopers and our team members are complying with the public health order.

Palmetto Scoopers is focused on service and communication and we want to clarify how we provide our services and what we are doing to help contain the spread of the virus and still be able to do it safely for you, your family and our team members.

Here are some ways that Palmetto Scoopers is able to continue its service during this public health crisis:

We work independently. A dog waste removal technician has no need to come into contact with anyone throughout his or her day. They spend their time inside their vehicle, driving from property to property, or alone on those properties while doing their work. All but essential office staff work from home.

We have always practiced sanitization. Our technicians are trained and have always used sanitization practices such as hand wipes, sanitizer, and other cleaners like kennel disinfectants to disinfect their tools in between properties. The coronavirus is like many other viruses, and sanitization products are effective in stopping spread.

We help prevent the spread of other diseases. There are many human diseases that can be carried by dog waste including E. coli, salmonellosis and parasites like roundworms and tapeworms. Considering many of our clients are incapable of scooping their dog’s poop (elderly, disabled, injured), they count on us to keep their properties clean and sanitary.

We wear facial covering when appropriate or required.  Our technicians and office staff are required to wear a face mask when in close proximity (within 6 feet) of clients, co-workers or the general public when on duty.

We help prevent environmental impact.  When left on the ground, pet waste negatively impacts the health of our community.  The EPA has classified pet waste as a “non-point source of pollution,” and water runoff that contains pet waste is a major contributor to e-coli in our waterway. Palmetto Scoopers removes pet waste from residential yards, apartment common areas, municipality parks, dog parks, open spaces and empties pet waste stations throughout communities.

We recognize that South Carolina and the entire country is going through a challenging time, due to the spread of COVID-19. Our technicians are aware of the public health concerns, and we are taking care to do our part in keeping South Carolina clean and healthy.
